IGI — International Gemological Institute

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of the world's most trusted and recognised diamond certification labs, with over 55 years of experience and laboratories across Mumbai, Antwerp, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and more.

Every diamond sold by ReVera comes with an official IGI certificate — a detailed technical report that independently verifies the diamond's authenticity and quality characteristics.

What an IGI Certificate Tells You

Diamond Shape & Cut Round, Princess, Pear, Oval, etc. Cut quality grade: Excellent/Very Good/Good
Carat Weight Exact weight of the diamond measured to the nearest 0.01 carat
Colour Grade D (colourless) to Z (light yellow) — independently assessed by gemologists
Clarity Grade FL (Flawless) to I3 — nature of inclusions mapped under 10x magnification
Polish & Symmetry Quality of the diamond's surface finish and facet alignment
Fluorescence Whether the diamond glows under UV light and how strongly
Lab-Grown Confirmation Explicitly states "Laboratory Grown" on the certificate for full transparency
Laser Inscription The IGI report number is laser-inscribed on the girdle of the diamond — invisible to the naked eye but verifiable under magnification

BIS Hallmark — Bureau of Indian Standards

The BIS Hallmark is India's official gold purity certification, mandated by the Government of India through the Bureau of Indian Standards. It guarantees that the gold in your jewellery is exactly the purity claimed.

Since June 2021, BIS hallmarking is compulsory for all gold jewellery sold in India. All ReVera gold jewellery carries the 6-digit HUID (Hallmark Unique ID) — your guarantee of purity.

Certification FAQs

Does every ReVera piece come with a certificate?

Yes. Every diamond piece comes with a physical IGI certificate included in the box. All gold jewellery carries a BIS hallmark stamped directly on the piece.

What if I lose my IGI certificate?

Your certificate number is also laser-inscribed on your diamond. You can obtain a replacement certificate directly from IGI using this number. Contact us and we'll help guide you through the process.

Is a lab-grown diamond certificate different from a mined diamond certificate?

The certificate format is the same. The only difference is that it explicitly states "Laboratory Grown" on the certificate. The grading criteria (4Cs) are identical.

Can I trust the IGI certification?

IGI is one of the world's most respected and independent gemological institutions with over 55 years of history. They have no relationship with the sellers — their grading is completely independent and widely trusted by the global jewellery industry.
